You have to Adapt!

The main lesson that I learned this week was to adapt to any situation I am faced with. The Business Symposium caused many challenges in terms of technical issues, but the experience was amazing because I went with the flow. Furthermore, every interviewer uses a different approach and unique questions, so while I did have questions prepared, there were many instances where I had to think in the moment and come up with an answer. This was a great opportunity to work on an important skill, as critical thinking is essential for the adult world. Life rarely goes as planned, so being able to adjust for these changes will come in handy for more than just interviews.

Past working on being flexible, the Business Symposium taught me some valuable lessons. Going into my first interview, I did not know what to expect, which caused me to be nervous. However, the interviewers were very kind and I was comfortable by the 2nd interview. I am now confident in my interview skills and understand the process of an interview, especially over video calls which has slowly become the preference for interviews. However, I still have more work to do in certain aspects, like speaking slower, relaxing my shoulders, and allowing the interview to play out more like a conversation rather than a lecture. This last point was one that stood out to me because I never took this idea into account, which allows for the interview to become more of an interaction, rather than just one person speaking for a significantly longer amount of time.
