Dr. Zia Uddin
Dr. Zia Uddin is a DFW native who completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Dallas. Additionally, he completed his Psychiatry Residency training at Virginia Commonwealth University. He currently has his own practice in McKinney, Texas called Clarity Medical, where patients can seek care for a variety of mental health illnesses. Dr. Uddin specializes in treating substance abuse disorders, adult ADHD, and sports performance. When treating patients, Dr. Uddin takes a holistic approach, treating the full person and not just their symptoms. Through his comprehensive evaluation, Dr. Uddin works with his patients to determine whether pharmacologic treatment, therapy, or a combination of both would be the most beneficial to them. By getting treatment with Dr. Uddin, patients can be guaranteed a thoughtful, warm, and nonjudgmental atmosphere.
Out of all the professionals I spoke to, Dr. Uddin was the one who I felt was the perfect match as my mentor. We both come from an Indian background and share the same reasoning for wanting to enter the field. We both felt that there is a lot of ignorance of mental health in our culture and want to raise this awareness by treating patients through psychiatry. Furthermore, Dr. Uddin has a deep understanding of the medical field through his private practice and can help guide me in my understanding of the field. I am grateful for Dr. Uddin and the fact that he has given me the opportunity to peer into the life of a professional and enable myself to have the best chance of becoming a psychiatrist.
