Keep on Working!

Monday, March 15th , 2021 - Sunday, March 21st, 2021

I was able to have another focused week to just work on my Original Work and conduct my mentor meeting with Dr. Uddin on Wednesday. I am excited to be wrapping up my research on my mental health system and was able to start and partially finish a pamphlet that can be spread throughout India. It was great to learn more about technology that can be utilized for health care and has really made me understand how beneficial the technology is around me. I take the MacBook that I am typing on for granted and the iPhone next to me, which can be powerful tools to connect people with mental health care in areas where these resources are scarce. I am also planning on creating a website that can present my information in a more appealing way than a research paper and am waiting to see how long my research paper takes before starting on the website.

In my meeting this week with Dr. Uddin, I was able to also go over my work on my Original Work for this week. I was able to ask him about lab tests and the purpose they play for psychiatrists and was able to learn that they allow doctors to calculate how much medication a patient will need. Psychiatrists can also monitor the various aspects of a patient’s health, like blood pressure or electrolytes, to see how patients react to treatment. I am truly grateful for the knowledge that Dr. Uddin has given me and have been assigned to do research on imaging for psychiatrists to present to my mentor in our next meeting.
