I started my topic proposal today and completed the first section on how I ended up choosing this topic. It was really nice to reflect back on the experiences that have led me to choose psychiatry and helped me confirm my passion for this career. Also, looking at the different courses that I have taken, like AP Psychology, AP Physics, and AP Chemistry, has given me confidence that I will be able to build up a base understanding as I start my journey to psychiatry.

I completed my topic proposal and proof-read the document. I also completed the Myers-Briggs type indicator to see if my personality would be compatible with the field I want to pursue. The test was very accurate, labeling me as introverted but valuing the connections I have and only furthered my resolve to become a psychiatrist. I enjoyed exploring more of my personality through this test and identifying what characteristics I possess that will be beneficial towards this career field.
Reflection:
This week, I learned more about myself and my motivation to enter this field as I completed my topic proposal. I know that I will have my work cut out for me, so looking back to where my interest in psychiatry came from and identifying the qualities that will help me be successful in this career field will help fuel my passion for this topic. I believe that being someone who values deep relationships, as I learned from my type indicator, will help me create bonds with my patients that will foster healthy communication and support an environment where my patients can be completely honest with me and put their full trust in my treatment and advice.
